  • Maldives is an Islamic country. You are not allowed to bring pork and pork products, and alcohol. However, alcohol is available at all the resorts.
  • You can buy a local SIM card at the airport. Most of the private resorts come with wifi.
  • Bring USD with you. Though credit cards are used widely including the resorts. Keeping some cash is also important if there is a need to purchase odds and ends.
  • Dress modestly and respect the local culture when visiting or staying on inhabited islands, including the capital, Malé.

All nationalities receive a 30-day visa on arrival, provided that you have a valid passport, an onward ticket to continue your journey and a reservation at a tourist facility or enough funds to cover your stay in the country.
